INDIAN
RECIPE OF THE DAY (November 20th 2006):
Banana Chips (Indian Salted Snack)

Ingredients: oil for deep frying, 1/4 tsp. turmeric
powder, salt to taste, 5-6 raw bananas
Method: 1. Put bananas in plenty of salted
iced water. 2. Slice bananas with a chip slicer into
water and mix in in turmeric. 3. Keep for 10 minutes
and then remove out of water fully. 4. Spread out on
a kitchen cloth to take off moisture. 5. Heat up oil
in a wok till smoky. 6. Fry banana slices in one-layer
batches for a minute or two or until crisp. 7. Lift
chips out with slotted spoon and remove on paper towels.
8. Sprinkle with salt before serving. BON
